Laura Bokar, owner and founder of the Fox Valley Institute for Growth and Wellness, is nominated in the professional category. Chuck Bokar, who co-owns the Design Resource Center with John Norman, received a nod in the business-to-business division.

It's possible both she and Chuck will win their respective categories during the May 11 event. If that happens, the lovebirds will square off for the ultimate accolade, the overall Small Business of the Year winner.

Laura, who has a bit of a competitive streak, admits she wants the award more than her hubby of nine years does. But the way they look at it, a win for one is a win for both.

Chuck, whose branding and package design firm's client list includes Tootsie Roll and Lowe's Home Improvement, is shy talking about his philanthropic work because he prefers staying behind the scenes.
