Bajaj Allianz General Insurance has entered into an alliance with WorldCare Inc, the US-based provider of internet-based healthcare solutions, to introduce e-Opinion Rider, a secondary consultation services to be rendered by reputed American medical centres for customers availing its health insurance packages.
There the records would be reviewed for quality control and assurance, before transmission to telemedicine centres of The Cleveland Clinic, Duke University Medical Centre or Partners Healthcare for specialists and multispecialty reivew of physicians.
A written, second opinion, including a confirmed diagnosis and recommended treatment plan would be returned to Baja Allianz's medical centre within seven working days of the receipt of medical record by WorldCare.
'The e-Opinion Rider helps to enhance medical care through multispecialty and optimise cost by reducing misdiagnosis and incorrect treatment,' said a spokeswoman of WorldCare in a presentation yesterday.
For the first time, Indian consumers would be able to enjoy timely, affordable electronic access to some of America's best hospitals for the evaluation of a serious illness, said Nasser Menhall, CEO, WorldCare in a message.
For the year 2004-05, Bajaj Allianz had a growth of 79 per cent with a premium income of Rs 856 crore, while the net profits stood at Rs 47 crore as on end March 2005, a 117 per cent growth from same period last year.
